West Hampton Dishwasher Repair Man with Fleet Appliance Repair Offers Suggestions for Common Problems

Cleaning and maintenance techniques to eliminate odor producing bacteria and debris blockage causing poor performance

West Hampton NY – The local dishwasher repair man has worked on a variety of units, from antiques to newer high-end models. He often shares interesting information about the history of dishwashers while serving the customer. Many are amazed to learn that the earliest dishwasher dates back to the 1850’s when an American inventor named Houghton created a wooden machine with a hand-turned wheel that splashed water on dishes.

Today, dishwashers come in a variety of sizes and styles to fit in any kitchen decor. Some of the more popular brands include Fisher & Paykel, KitchenAid and Bosch. With custom panels the dishwasher blends nicely into the kitchen cabinetry with a clean, sleek design. One of the most common problems addressed by the dishwasher repair man is odor and debris clogs.

Bob Dougherty, owner of Fleet Appliance Repair (http://www.fleetappliance.com), has posted dishwasher maintenance tips to his site. Start by cleaning the spray arms to remove blockages where bacteria can grow. The dishwasher repair man says the best way to maintain spray arms is to remove them and run wire through each of the holes to remove obstructions. Rinse with hot water and vinegar then reinstall.

Finish the job by running the dishwasher cycle with vinegar, no dishes, run empty. The acid in the vinegar will kill germs and eliminate bacteria which can grow in standing water left inside the dishwasher. This process will also help clear drain without any adverse effects on the dishwasher.

The local dishwasher repair man can diagnose and repair most problems with dishwashers including leaking, excessive noise and failure to cycle. With over 30 years experience, flexible scheduling, wide range of services and factory trained staff, the highly qualified appliance service technicians can be relied on for quick and efficient repair.

Moisture in the refrigerator compartment? Refrigerator leaking?

Moisture in the refrigerator compartment?

Why is there dew or sweat in the refrigerator compartment?

Some moisture in the refrigerator compartment and crispers is normal. Light sweat or humidity may build on interior walls, shelves, bottles, jars and other containers in the refrigerator compartment.

Moisture in Main Refrigerator Compartment

Excess moisture can be a result of the following:

Opening the doors frequently

Opening the doors frequently can cause sweat or dew to build in the refrigerator compartment. When the doors are opened, humid room air enters the refrigerator. The more often the doors are opened, the faster the humidity builds. Opening the doors less often will help, but may not completely eliminate internal moisture.

Humid environment

During months of high humidity (especially if a home is not air-conditioned), it is normal for some sweat or moisture to build inside the refrigerator when the room air is humid.

Blocked air vents

Make sure the air vents between the freezer and refrigerator compartments are not blocked. See images below. Objects blocking the vents will cause a decrease in proper air circulation, which can cause temperature and moisture problems. Move any items that could be blocking the vents.

Poor gasket seal

Moisture buildup around the door or on the ceiling suggests an air leak, likely due to a gasket problem. The door gasket should seal all the way around on the door. Make sure that nothing is keeping the gasket from making a good seal.

Moisture in Crisper Bins

Crispers are designed to hold moisture in order to keep vegetables fresh.

•             Washing foods before putting them in the crisper can cause excess moisture to form inside the crisper. To control moisture buildup, allow produce to dry on a towel after it is washed, before it is placed in the crisper. Excess moisture could cause produce to prematurely spoil.

•             On models with a moisture control on the front of the crisper, adjust the setting to low humidity or the fruit setting.  Refer to your Use and Care Guide for additional instructions and information about this feature.
